On 12 September 2026, an Orienteering Hackathon was organised at Petrovaradin Fortress, Serbia, within the Erasmus+ project SPIN – Sporting a Path to an Inclusive and Greener World (Project No. 2024-2-EL02-KA220-YOU-000286170).
The event gathered 24 participants, divided into four categories — Youth, Juniors, Seniors and Masters — with both male and female participants taking part. Through the orienteering course, participants combined physical activity with navigation, observation, strategic thinking and problem-solving.
Petrovaradin Fortress provided a particularly suitable setting for the activity due to its varied terrain, pathways and historic surroundings. The venue added a strong local and cultural dimension to the event while also supporting outdoor learning and active engagement with the environment.
The hackathon promoted participation, fair play, inclusion and healthy lifestyles, while also encouraging participants to develop independence, decision-making skills and environmental awareness. Overall, the event successfully combined sport and non-formal learning in an engaging outdoor setting and contributed to the wider objectives of the SPIN project.
