Representatives of the K2 Partnership participated in the international event of the ELECTRA project in Italy

As part of the ELECTRA international project, which is implemented with the financial support of the European Union through the CERV program, from October 20 to 23, 2026, an international meeting was held in the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna dedicated to the fight against misinformation, strengthening digital resilience and encouraging intergenerational dialogue.

Representatives of the K2 Partnership participated in the event called “The Disinformation Diaries – Living Library of Digital Misuse”, organized by the Italian partner Nuovo Circondario Imolese: Tamara Andrić Atanacković, Vojin Atanacković, Brankica Gavrilović and Nebojša Gavrilović.

The central part of the program was held on October 21 in the town of Casalfiumanese, not far from Imola, where representatives of European partner organizations met with members of the local community to jointly investigate the impact of disinformation and digital manipulations on the daily life of citizens, interpersonal relationships and trust in information.

Living library – personal experiences as a basis for dialogue

Special attention was attracted by the interactive workshop “Living Library”, based on the exchange of personal experiences and open conversation between members of different generations.

Pupils aged 13-14, young, elderly residents of the local community and representatives of European partner organizations participated in the activities. Through conversations about experiences with the media, social networks, inaccurate information and digital manipulations, the participants had the opportunity to see the same problems from different perspectives.

This approach showed how important it is to create a space where citizens can freely express their opinions, ask questions and learn from each other. The special value of the workshop was reflected in connecting generations, encouraging critical thinking and understanding the ways in which different age groups experience the modern digital environment.

The conversations also served as a starting point for considering the possibility of creating a common European digital civil archive on disinformation, in which the collected experiences and examples of good practice would be used as educational resources.

From local experiences to common European solutions

During the program, special attention was paid to the role of young people in the development of digital democracy, as well as the possibilities for local communities to participate more actively in recognizing and preventing the spread of misinformation.

The participants discussed how individual experiences can become a source of collective knowledge and how the cooperation of citizens, educational institutions and civil society organizations can contribute to the creation of more informed and resilient communities.

The second working day, on October 22, was dedicated to familiarization with local practices and exchange of experiences among European partners. The program included a visit to the City Hall in Imola, familiarization with local cultural and social initiatives, as well as activities aimed at involving young people in community life.

During the visit, the representatives of Partnership K2 had the opportunity to learn about the ways in which local institutions nurture cultural heritage, encourage civic participation and develop a sense of belonging to the community. The experience of connecting educational, cultural and social activities with the needs of residents of different generations was particularly significant.

The final working session was dedicated to the exchange of good practices and consideration of the possibility of their application in other European environments, especially in the areas of media literacy, digital resilience, civic activism and youth inclusion.

Intergenerational solidarity and connection of local communities

In addition to the work program, the hosts organized an introduction to the cultural and natural heritage of the area of Imola, Casalfjumanese and the surrounding places, including visits to local cultural institutions and the presentation of traditional gastronomy.

These activities additionally contributed to the participants getting to know each other, exchanging experiences and strengthening the cooperation of partner organizations.

The experience of the Italian partners has shown that a successful fight against disinformation does not only involve the development of digital skills, but also the building of trust, intergenerational solidarity and stronger ties within the local community.

The participation of the K2 Partnership in this international meeting is a contribution to the further realization of the ELECTRA project and the exchange of European experiences in the field of media and digital literacy, civic participation and democratic dialogue.

The experiences gained and the presented examples of good practice provide a useful basis for future activities aimed at empowering citizens, especially young people, to critically evaluate information, recognize digital manipulations and actively contribute to the development of more open, connected and resilient communities.
